Due to logistic reasons and laws governing alcoholic beverages,programs are held only at Satellites of BAI, like in Hotels, Collages and other premises. The registered  premises of BAI  only acts as an office, and record keeping place.

You will get a certificate of Participation for BAI programs at the end of the program completion. For WSET programs the exam papers are sent to UK and Certificate and Pin are awarded only if you are successful in the program. However, all will get the grade sheet from WSET UK, including the once who have not beensuccessful in the exam.

Yes. All the BAI and WSET programs can be conducted after registrationof the premises, provided it is conforming to the requirement of BAI and WSET UK. Generally, 10 to 24 candidates can be trained depending on the program. special discounted group rate will be quoted for conducting such exclusive program.   1. Vacancies are allocated strictly in the order that complete and valid application forms are received. An application form without the full fee or invoice request will be invalid and no course/exam booking will be made unless the full fee has been received prior to any deadline set or all vacancies being filled.
  2. All applications will automatically be booked and confirmed for a place in the exam(s) taking place in Sri Lanka relating to that application. Any applicant who wishes to postpone their exam(s) will be required to pay an administration charge of Rs. 5,000/- per exam (for request made before the relevant exam registration deadline) or the full exam retake fee (when request is made after the registration deadline, subject to price changes from WSET in the UK), which may be subject to change according to the relevant academic year fee schedule. Candidates who have already taken and passed an exam will not be permitted to retake the exam. Candidates who have been unsuccessful at passing the exam may retake it as many times as required to achieve a pass grade, although this is subject to re-registration with WSET® after three years from the original registration.
  3. If a candidate is unable to attend a session, no make-up session will be available for the WSET® courses, except in exceptional cases in which BAI will make the final decision on whether or not a candidate is permitted to make up the particular session(s) provided that the session(s) is/are available and still fit the schedule leading to the registered exam.

Any individual session change will incur an administration charge of Rs. 5,000/- per session. No requests will be processed without a proper written request, payment in advance and written confirmation from BAI, that a make-up session can be arranged.

  1. Candidates requiring special examination conditions because of dyslexia or other medical reasons must submit their request at the time of their application to BAI. Such requests must be supported by a doctor’s certificate or similar document.
  2. BAI reserves the right to change the published prices of its programmers or materials or cancel courses or examinations if necessary.
  3. Once an application form for the WSET course has been received, no cancellation of the application will be permitted and any course fees (including any exam fees) will be forfeited.
  4. Candidates collecting the study materials are required to check the items in the study pack carefully against the collection list prepared by BAI.

Candidates are required to sign their name on the collection list to confirm receipt of the materials. Once a candidate has signed the collection list, no subsequent claim of missing or incorrect study materials will be entertained under any circumstances.

  1. Candidates who in writing request the study pack to be sent by courier (at their cost) to their address are required to check the items in the study pack carefully against the delivery list prepared by BAI. If there are any missing or incorrect study materials, candidates should inform BAI by the deadline indicated on the delivery list. No subsequent claim of missing or incorrect study materials will be entertained under any circumstances after the deadline indicated on the delivery list
  2. Once an application for a specific WSET programme has been received, any transfer to another programme/intake, or to another applicant, will not be permitted under any circumstances.
  3. Candidates are SOLELY responsible for confirming that any study materials which they already have are the latest version and will be required to pay for any updated materials. BAI accepts NO responsibility whatsoever for candidates who endeavor to take an exam based on outdated study materials.
  4. All courses and examinations are subject to minimum numbers. BAI reserves the right to cancel courses and/or examinations if there are an insufficient number of students.
  5. Minimum numbers of fully paid students are required for a particular course, the application deadline, there are insufficient students to run a particular course or programme, that course or programme will be cancelled and a full refund will be arranged for those students who have already paid. Students must note that refunds can take four weeks to process.

Tutors who teach these course are highly experienced and qualified professionals and, therefore, it is very difficult to find a replacement tutor for a particular lesson if the scheduled tutor is ill or for any other reason unavoidably unable to teach the lesson that day. For this reason, there may be the very rare occasion whereby a class will be postponed in which case it will be re-scheduled to a date and time at the absolute discretion of BAI. BAI will make every effort both to keep such occasions to an absolute minimum and to reschedule to a date and time as convenient to the majority of students as is possible. It must be noted, however, that NO REFUND will be made to ANY student who is unable to attend the rescheduled lesson for whatever reason.

  1. It is a WSET® requirement that candidates show photo proof of ID on the day of the examination. Candidates will not be permitted to take part in the exam if they are unable to do so for whatever reason.
  2. In accordance with the WSET® programs, candidates are responsible for their glasses and spittoon for the tasting papers of WSET® exams. Cleanliness of the glasses and the spittoon for the tasting papers of WSET® exams. Cleanliness of the glasses and the spittoon and their storage is entirely the responsibility of candidates. BAI will not entertain any requests whatsoever UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES for the loan or storage of either glasses or spittoons unless otherwise agreed by BAI at the time of the application acceptance.
  3. Examination results will be posted EXCLUSIVELY by registered mail to the mailing address as indicated on the application form. If no mailing address is provided, candidates will be contacted to collect the exam results at BAI. Please note that examination results WILL NOT be passed to candidates by phone, fax or email under any circumstances.
  4. If an organization requests an invoice for a place on a course for one of its employees and that employee, at any time subsequent to the invoice being raised, leaves the organization’s employ, for whatever reason, the organization which requested the invoice remains liable to pay the full course fee.

No, Level 1 prepares students for an entry level job in hospitality or retail. It gives basic knowledge on wines, service and matching wines to meals.

It is recommended that candidates should hold the WSET Level 2 in Wines and Spirits. Candidates who believe they have a sufficiently good understanding of the subjects covered by the Level 2 syllabus are advised to consult before enrolment on the course of study for guidance on the accreditation of prior learning. Level 3 is a highly intensive course and the knowledge gained from Level 2 is expanded on in Level 3.

Once registration is completed and payment is received you will receive a study pack prior to the commencement of the course via Australia Express Post relevant to the course you have registered it.

The exam papers are sent back to WSET in London for marking. Wine Spirit Training is notified by email and you will be notified of your mark via email from Wine Spirit Training. Certificates and badges are then sent, and they will be forwarded to you via Australia Express Post.

WSET Level 1 in Wines

To give students an idea of the sort of questions which might be asked, here is a selection. The examination consists of 30 questions similar to these, to be completed in a maximum of 45 minutes.

WSET Level 2 in Wines

WSET Level 3 in Wines

Type of Level 3 in Wines Multiple Choice Questions Unit One To give students an idea of the sort of questions which might be asked, here is a selection. The examination consists of 50 questions similar to these.

The paper will consist of four questions of equal weighting requiring brief written answers and one 4-mark question. The questions can be drawn from any area of the Unit One syllabus.

A customer who regularly purchases classic French wines requests New World alternatives. Recommend a suitable New World wine as a substitute for each of the wines listed, stating reasons for your selection.

In question one candidates will be required to blind taste two wines and produce written analysis using the WSET Level 3 Systematic Approach to Tasting technique.

The candidate will be required to identify each wine and indicate the retail price band for both wines.

A mark of 55% in each Unit is required to achieve a pass

The Wine & Spirit Education Trust does not release past paper for the WSET Level 2 Award in Spirits. In order to give candidates an idea of the sort of questions that might be asked, this section includes five sample questions. The examination consists of 50 questions similar to these.

The WSET Level 2 Award in Spirits is assessed by a closed-book examination that consists of 50 multiple-choice questions, to be completed in one hour. All examination questions are based on the published learning outcomes and the recommended study materials contain the information required to answer these questions. A candidate is required to pass with a minimum mark of 55 per cent.
